Select the desired line in the PARTlinkManager.

Call up the context menu command Create variant as new copy.

-> The Create variant dialog box opens.

Activate the Assign [Assign ERP number] ERP number checkbox.

-> The Advanced [Extended] button is activated.

Click the Advanced [Extended] button.

-> The Generate [Generate value sequence] value sequence dialog box opens.

Enter the desired number for the variant.

Confirm with Ok.

The Create variant dialog box appears again.

If needed use both.

Identification details [Identification data]: Add a new line using to add a new line.

-> The Add variable dialog box opens.

Select the desired variable in the list field (here in the example 'S') and enter the desired value in the Value column.

Confirm with Ok.

-> The variant appears as a new line in the PARTlinkManager.

The variant is managed in the LinkDB/PLDBDEMO with the same line ID [Line ID], but with a different line subID [Line sub ID].

To check, open the part by double-clicking in the PARTdataManager.

In this example the sorting is not correct.

If the Set sort order for currently open project [Set the sorting order for currently opened project] function is available (see function is available (see Section 4.24.8.2.7.2, “Explicitly specify sorting order of variants for PARTdataManager table ”), click on the button.

-> The corresponding dialog is displayed.

Click on Add.

-> The sorting is now correct.
